The three institutions Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and Fraunhofer Institute for Factory Operation and Automation have set up a consortium for cooperating on issues of sustainable development. As the partners have different core competencies and backgrounds (an University, an institution for international cooperation and a pure research institution) they form a strategic network in order to offer a substantial basis for joint international activities oriented on TVET and Sustainable Development. One major vision is focussing on the establishment of a "Global TVET Academy for Sustainable Development".
The partners which as a consortium form the UNEVOC Centre are introduced concisely below:
The Otto-von-Guericke-University has a distinctive profile, this university aims to cut a clear and efficiently-structured figure with its main focus of expertise in the traditional areas of engineering, the natural sciences and medicine. It also views economics and management as well as the arts and humanities as essential disciplines for a modern university in the information age.
The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH brings together under one roof the long-standing expertise of DED, GTZ and InWEnt. GIZ´s purpose is to promote international cooperation for sustainable development and international education work. As a federally owned company GIZ support the German Government in achieving its objectives in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development and is engaged in international education work around the globe.
The Fraunhofer Institute for Factory Operation and Automation (IFF) is an autonomous research institution in the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft.
The institute is technologically oriented towards conceiving, engineering and producing innovative and customized solutions in the fields of

- Robotic Systems and Measurement and Testing Technology
- Process and Plant Engineering
- Virtual Engineering and Virtual-Interactive Training
