UNESCO-Aschberg Bursaries for Artists Programme 2011

UNESCO-Aschberg Bursaries for Artists Programme 2011

The UNESCO-Aschberg Bursaries for Artists Programme  is announcing the 2011 call for applications. This call is open to visual artists, creative writers and musicians between the ages of 25 and 35.

The Programme aims to promote the mobility of young artists through art residences abroad, give priority to artists and artist residency institutions from the global south and promoting the participation of women in international artist residencies.

The website provides links to the residency institutions with full instructions on application procedures (http://www.unesco.org/culture/aschberg). Candidates are invited to submit their applications directly to the institution of their choice. The institutions pre-select three candidates for each bursary and submit the list of names to UNESCO for review by an international selection panel, which makes the final selection taking into consideration the priorities of the residency, geographical distribution and gender equality.

By supporting the mobility of artists and promoting artist residencies, the UNESCO-Aschberg Programme contributes to:

 -    Individual artistic development: opportunities for artists to realise their creative works and have access to other markets;

-     Local development: transfer of knowledge back in local communities;

-     International cooperation: Promote collaboration and cooperation between artists and artists’ residencies.
