Andean Cultural and Natural Sites

The main objectives of this workshop are to enable the participants to exchange information and to draw up new proposals with a view to improving work plans and managing inscribed and non-inscribed natural and cultural sites, on the World Heritage List.

Two technicians from each of the five Andean countries will participate in the workshop together with the Ecuadorian architect Dora Arizaga. Trainees will have the opportunity to exchange experiences, difficulties encountered and different aspects of site management.

The Historic Centre of Santa Ana de los Ríos de Cuenca, commonly known as Cuenca, is inscribed on the World Heritage List while the nearby National Park El Cajas has been submitted on the Ecuador’s tentative list as cultural landscape.

The training workshop for specialists and managers of the region is organized by UNESCO, in coordination with the Architecture and Urbanism School and in agreement with the Cuenca University and the UN System in Ecuador.
