Organised by Tringa Musiques et Développement and with UNESCO’s participation, the closing ceremony took place at the Maison de la Culture Douta Seck in Dakar on 24 July 2009.

Thirty trainees from various public and private cultural structures benefited from the six session workshop. The workshop consisted of three sessions on music and new technology which taught trainees how to design and manage websites at lower costs, and three sessions on cultural business administration dealing with legal issues, events driven communication, and management and accounting.

Over the past decade, Tringa Music and Development, through its label Africa Fête, has provided career training in the performing arts. Indeed, one of the values of the structure, upheld by the founder of Africa Fête, Mamadou Konte, is to consider music as a vehicle for economic development in Africa. Therefore, professionalization through training is paramount in the cultural sector.
