The Sa’a Suriya radio programme has become a vital, well-known and much needed programme that targets Syrian refugees and vulnerable Jordanian youth residing in four northern and central governorates of Irbid, Mafraq, Amman and Zarqa. Implemented by UNESCO in partnership with "Un ponte per… "(UPP), it serves as a communication platform for refugees and Jordanian marginalized youth to access information, voice personal stories and interact with the local community and service providers.

The project consists of three main activities:

• Broadcasting/On Air: giving voice to the Syrian refugee community in Jordan by providing an information sharing and communication platform through specifically dedicated episodes using a radio programme;
• Youth engagement: encouraging the active participation of Jordanian youth, male and female, through training of Jordanian reporters on basic citizen journalism skills and radio techniques and empowering youth to skillfully express their voices in a journalistic style;
• Disseminating information and data mapping: disseminating reliable and timely information, broadcasting information pertaining to assistance and various services available to Syrian refugees in Jordan.

The bi-weekly live radio show is broadcasted every Monday and Wednesday, from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Yarmouk FM – hosted by the Yarmouk University – which covers Irbid and Mafraq governorates in the North, and every Sunday and Tuesday, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Farah AlNas Radio – hosted by the Princess Basma Youth Resource Center at the Queen Zein Al Sharaf Institute for Development (ZENID) – reaching Amman and Zarqa governorates.

Each episode of the programme focuses on a different topic among a variety of priorities, like Education, Health, Legal, Psychosocial Support, Child Labor or Water, and provides relevant information, including contacts, directions and information on services offered by different organizations and local institutions, with a special focus on women and youth. Each episode hosts a guest speaker and listeners are invited to actively participate in the programme through phone calls which makes the radio an effective tool for service providers to interact and reach out to their beneficiaries.
