Fight against illicit traffic of the cultural heritage objects
Round table organized by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports of Albania, in close cooperation with the UNESCO Venice Office – Regional Bureau for Science and Culture in Europe (BRESCE) and the Albanian National Commission for UNESCO, on the prevention of illicit traffic of cultural heritage and other illegal actions

The objective of this round table on Fight against illicit traffic of the cultural heritage objects to be held in Tirana (Republic of Albania) will be to raise awareness of the concerned services (notably police, customs and other cultural institutions), as well as to present the best practices in the country and the other countries in the region, thus supporting the process of the ratification of the UNESCO and UNIDROIT conventions against Illicit Trafficking in Cultural Property.

The round table will include the participation of representatives from the region including the following countries: Croatia, Greece, Serbia and Montenegro, UNIDROIT, Comando Carabinieri Tutela Patrimonio Culturale and INTERPOL experts, as well as local field experts (police and customs services). Each expert-representative of the participating countries will present the current state of art and future strategy on the suggested topics.

The round table will take place at the National Historic Museum, Tirana, Albania from June 8 to 11, 2006. The working part of the round table will take two days (June 9-10, 2006).
