Thailand, which is represented on the World Heritage List by three cultural sites and two natural sites, possesses many other important sites, which it is preparing to present to the World Heritage Committee. It is also investing in heritage education and professional training of site personnel. Accordingly, cultural heritage is receiving serious attention and is the subject of a number of projects.

In the field of living heritage, Thailand has developed a system of Living Human Treasures.

Activities involving cultural diversity relate to the cultural approach to the prevention and treatment of HIV and AIDS and the protection of vulnerable minority groups.

Following the tsunami catastrophe of December 2004, UNESCO decided to organize training in the field of music and traditional entertainment to help the populations to get back on their feet socially, economically and culturally. Such activities repair social links at a time of reconstruction.

As concerns creative industries, Thailand supports its crafts through the Seal of Excellence programme.
