The history of Azerbaijan, standing as it does at the crossroads of an infinite variety of cultural worlds, has left a vast cultural and intangible heritage in its wake.
One site is inscribed on the World Heritage List and on the List of World Heritage in Danger. The underwater heritage of the Caspian Sea too is the object of protective measures. Azerbaijani Mugham traditional music has been proclaimed a masterpiece of the oral and intangible heritage of humanity.
UNESCO funds a certain number of restoration projects as well as the Azerbaijan Music Centre. Azerbaijan also takes part in the activities launched by the Organization for the provision to Caucasian countries of training in cultural heritage conservation and museum management.
As regards intercultural dialogue, the country is participating in the Caucusus project for cooperation between the countries of the region and the Baltic countries.
