• The Maroon Heritage of Moore Town

As a State Party to the World Heritage Convention, Jamaica has proposed the Blue and John Crow Mountains National Park on its Tentative List in the hopes that it will eventually be inscribed on the
World Heritage List.

In the field of intangible heritage, the Moore Town Maroons heritage was proclaimed a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity in 2003. An action plan has been implemented to compile information on the Maroon culture and encourage its transmission.

With the assistance of the Global Alliance for Cultural Diversity, a national strategy has been developed to strengthen the Jamaica's music industry.

Jamaica has participated in the writing of the General History of the Caribbean and hopes that adapted versions of the collection will be made for young people and audiovisual programmes.

As part of the Youth Path Project, which aims to combat poverty by developing cultural tourism, young people were trained to manage Holywell Recreational Park.

The country has been particularly supportive of the Slave Route project and is still carrying out activities in this context.
