The 5th World Hydropower Congress

The International Hydropower Association (IHA), is a partner of UNESCO IHP since its inception and will host a gathering of stakeholders in the hydropower field at the 2015 World Hydropower Congress, in Beijing, from the 19th until the 21st of May 2015. The aim of the Congress is to promote discussions and debates on how hydropower could be better integrated in the energy mixes of states. The Congress will consist of workshops and other sessions with experts.
Over a 1000 experts and (political) leaders are expected to attend the World Hydropower Congress. They will try to set out a strategy on how to better integrate hydropower in the future. In this process there also will be looked at the consequences of the usage of hydropower from a social, economic, ecological and technical perspective. Next to this, the participants of the Congress are challenged to change the current thinking about hydropower and energy in general and to create an incentive to address the reasoning of the global decision-makers.
