UNESCO Chair in Women, Science and Reasoned Water Management in West Africa (832), established in 2009 at the University of Lomé (Togo).

Fields/Disciplines

Natural Sciences, Social and Human Sciences, Informatics.

Objectives

  • To promote better use of water resources at the local level;
  • To enhance social communication in rural and suburban communities;
  • To invigorate and strengthen the Master’s Programme “Women, Water and Health”;
  • To create a vocational training certificate in communication technologies;
  • To create synergy among experts based in the universities of the West African sub-region;
  • To establish an information clearinghouse and a forum through a web portal;
  • To develop education and training for women regarding information access, water management for health and environmental protection;
  • To enhance the position of women in water management activities in rural and suburban environments.
