    Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela has been a Member State of UNESCO since November 25, 1946, and its capital Caracas is home to the UNESCO International Institute for Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean (IESALC), an autonomous body affiliated to UNESCO and dedicated to promoting university education across the region.

    As of September 2006, the country has 205 schools participating in UNESCO’s Associated Schools Project Network (ASPnet).
