Ongoing Programmes 2014-2015

Networks of Mediterranean Youth Programme

© EU/Neighbourhood Info Centre

Networks of Mediterranean Youth (NET-MED Youth) is a joint programme between UNESCO and the European Commission, aimed at empowering young women and men through policy-making, media representation and capacity building in ten countries around the Mediterranean - Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Syria and Tunisia.  Young women and men will be encouraged to work together, to form vibrant and dynamic networks, and to collaborate with 3 thematic working groups set up by UNESCO in each country, in order to fully exercise their rights as active citizens and develop a culture of democracy and peace.

Asociety’s youth is one of its prime assets in bringing about social development, as shown so clearly in the upheavals across in this region in 2011. The NET-MED programme will seek to enable the voices of young women and men to be heard at all levels of society, through focusing on three principal areas of action: youth in policy-making, youth in the media, and youth capacity building.
