"Youth Volunteering and Dialogue" International Conference

An International Conference “Youth Volunteering and Dialogue” will be held in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from 3rd to 5th December 2013. The Conference is jointly organized by the Ministry of Education, Saudi Arabia, and the King Abdulaziz Centre for National Dialogue (KANCD), Saudi Arabia and UNESCO.

Some hundred young participants from all regions of the world will meet for three days to explore the channels and creativity of youth volunteering,  to chart future avenues for the aspirations and needs of youth, and to define new partnerships with foundations, NGO’s and the private sector.

The young participants will showcase their volunteering actions, share their experiences and draw up recommendations for the future. An exhibition will focus on examples of successful volunteering action in different areas. Through a series of workshops, the Conference will provide opportunities to have exchanges on volunteering and peace-building, humanitarian assistance, cultural diversity, intercultural dialogue and the role of information and communications in promoting volunteering and responsible citizenship.

A Declaration is expected to be adopted by the participants at the end of the Conference.

The event is part of the “King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Programme for a Culture of Peace and Dialogue”, launched by the Government of Saudi Arabia and UNESCO in May 2011.
