Field Offices

Through its field offices, UNESCO develops strategies, programmes and activities in consultation with national authorities and other partners. UNESCO also operates a number of specialized institutes and centres.

The UNESCO Office in Abidjan was inaugurated on 13 September 2013, in the presence of the Ivorian authorities, UNESCO senior officials, members of the diplomatic corps and traditional leaders.

The UNESCO Office works towards achieving UNESCO's goals: to contribute to building peace, eradication of poverty, sustainable development, and intercultural dialogue through education, the sciences, culture, communication and information.

The Office in Abidjan is working closely with the government. All projects and all initiatives take into account the National Development Plan (NDP) and the Post-2015 Agenda.
