    03-12-2004 10:30 am The Brazilian musician Gilberto Gil gave a concert on 3 December 2004 at UNESCO Headquarters as part of the activities to close the International Year to Commemorate the Struggle against Slavery and its Abolition.Concert-1.jpg

    Born in Salvador de Bahia, in 1964 Gilberto Gil was one of the representatives of the "Tropicalia" movement, which revolutionized Brazilian culture by influencing music as well as theatre and literature. Gilberto Gil was named UNESCO Artist for Peace in 1999 and has been Brazil's minister of culture since December 23, 2002.
