2008 EGOART Art Prize - Call for entries

The art prize EGOART, first awarded in 2003, was created as a natural alternative to other fine art awards in the European region.

The main aim of the prize is to assess contemporary art projects and works of art without any restrictive formal or thematic criteria. Works of art which reach out from the contemporary art "mainstream" are especially welcome.

The winner, chosen by a five-member jury, will win a solo exhibition in Kressling Gallery in Bratislava, Slovakia. The exhibition will be accompanied by an international presentation and press material publications.

The prize is open to any artist, individual or legal entity.

The deadline of application is 28 December 2008.

  • Points of the 1997 Déclaration related to this theme:
    - Paragraph 18 : (...) New means of private funding, from major foundations to small companies, must be encouraged as supplementary sources of funds, particularly with a view to supporting the creation, the expression and the dissemination of contemporary works.
    - Paragraph 19 : Public and private funding sources are invited to respond favourably to requests made by artists in developing countries or countries in transition. UNESCO’s intervention is particularly necessary in order to identify and publicize existing opportunities for private funding of the arts worldwide.
