Babel Med Music 2010: call for applications

The 5th edition of the World Music Forum Babel Med Music will take place from March 25 to 27 2009.

This year, a call for applications is launched in direction to all music groups of the area, the Mediterranean region and the world.

The 30 selected groups will perform a showcase on one of the stages of the Dock des Suds, in Marseille, in front of hundreds of professionals from the music scene around the world and in front of a large public.

Any artist wishing to be considered by the selection committee can complete the application form.

The closing date for applications is 23 October 2009.

  • Points of the 1997 Declaration related to this subject:
    - Parag. 18: (...) New means of private funding, from major foundations to small companies, must be encouraged as supplementary sources of funds, particularly with a view to supporting the creation, the expression and the dissemination of contemporary works.
    - Parag. 19: Public and private funding sources are invited to respond favourably to requests made by artists in developing countries or countries in transition. UNESCO’s intervention is particularly necessary in order to identify and publicize existing opportunities for private funding of the arts worldwide.
