14th International Solo-Dance-Theatre Festival, 11-14 March 2010, Stuttgart, Germany

Competition for contemporary choreographers and young dancers

As participants in the competition, choreographers and dancers from around the world, are requested to perform a solo piece which is new, original, imaginative, unique, which displays unusual achievement. Thus, the festival will provide an overall view of the latest trends in the solo-dance-theatre scene. The respected jury will judge choreographic and dance skills as well as musicality, interpretation and performance.

The complete application must be sent at the latest by 11 November 2009.
However applications are only complete after a DVD of the submitted choreography (rehearsal recording also possible), or of a current solo piece, with a maximum duration of 15 minutes has been received by the organizers.

Further application details are available here (in English & German)

  • Points of the 1997 Declaration related to this subject:
    - Parag. 18: (...) New means of private funding, from major foundations to small companies, must be encouraged as supplementary sources of funds, particularly with a view to supporting the creation, the expression and the dissemination of contemporary works.
    - Parag. 19: Public and private funding sources are invited to respond favourably to requests made by artists in developing countries or countries in transition. UNESCO’s intervention is particularly necessary in order to identify and publicize existing opportunities for private funding of the arts worldwide.
