Call for applications: The 4th Beijing International Art Biennale, China 2010

Call for projects

In the framework of the 4th Beijing International Art Biennale, which will take place from 20 September to 10 October 2010, at the National Art Museum of China, the organisers launch a call for projects to artists from all around the world. The theme is the environment and the human being.

The Chinese Artists Association, which organises the event, wishes that the selected works of arts could reflect the diversity of the artistic creation.

The Beijing International Art Biennale aims to act as a platform of the international exchange in the fields of contemporary painting and sculptur; to show the nowadays environment situation apperceived by artists; to stimulate the pursuit of the society to the ideal environment; and to invite the artists over the world to co-build our spiritual existence.

The deadline for sending the applications is 30 December 2009.

  • Points of the 1997 Declaration related to this subject:
    - Parag. 18: (...) New means of private funding, from major foundations to small companies, must be encouraged as supplementary sources of funds, particularly with a view to supporting the creation, the expression and the dissemination of contemporary works.
    - Parag. 19: Public and private funding sources are invited to respond favourably to requests made by artists in developing countries or countries in transition. UNESCO’s intervention is particularly necessary in order to identify and publicize existing opportunities for private funding of the arts worldwide.
