DanceWEB Scholarship Programme, July-August 2010 - Call for applications

The Programme will take place in Summer 2010, from July 14 to August 18, 2010.

Young dancers and choreographers with decidedly professional ambitions from European, Eastern European and non European countries preferably between 22 and 30 years of age, and with a good knowledge of English are invited to apply for danceWEB Scholarship Programme 2010. The quality of the dance background is the main criteria for participation in the Programme.

Applicants are invited to fill in the online application form available on the website and attach:
- a detailed CV
- two recent photos (portrait & dance photo)
- 3 letters of recommendation

Application deadline is December 15, 2009 and the final decision will be communicated in March 2010.

Remarks:
Each scholarship within the frame of Jardin d'Europe is cofinanced by the European Union (Culture 2007-2013 programme), by Austrian funding bodies and by local funding from the home country of the nominee (but no private persons as sponsors). This last part is not yet secured in all countries. Therefore the applicants are encouraged (in cooperation with the Jardin d'Europe office) to look for possible funding institutions in their home countries.

  • Points of the 1997 Declaration related to this subject:
    - Parag. 18: (...) New means of private funding, from major foundations to small companies, must be encouraged as supplementary sources of funds, particularly with a view to supporting the creation, the expression and the dissemination of contemporary works.
    - Parag. 19: Public and private funding sources are invited to respond favourably to requests made by artists in developing countries or countries in transition. UNESCO’s intervention is particularly necessary in order to identify and publicize existing opportunities for private funding of the arts worldwide.
