New Zero Art Space International Residency programme, Myanmar - call for applications

First Artist-in-Residency Programme

New Zero Art Space, an independent art space in Yangon, Myanmar, launches a call to international artists for its first Artist-in-Residency Program. The program provides opportunities for resident artists to meet and exchange artistic ideas with local artists and learn about Myanmar art and culture.

The programme is an opportunity to support artists from around the world who have a keen interest in Myanmar art and culture. The philosophy of the program also encourages an ongoing exchange with the art and culture from the artist’s host country.

The programme is open to artists primarily from Asia, Europe and North America who are working in the following art disciplines:
- Visual art
- Video art
- Performance art
- Short film
- Documentary film

Each resident artist will stay for a period of one month at New Zero Art Space in the heart of Yangon. The New Zero Art Space will provide a round-trip airfare, accommodation, living expenses as well as a studio and exhibition space. The resident artists will be requested to give talks during the residency and subsequently exhibit their works at the New Zero Art Space.

Application deadline: 30 December 2009
