Intercultural dialogue, heritage, literature, contemporary issues are some of the fields in which UNESCO has launched activities in the region. |

- Rehabilitation of the Prambanan World Heritage Site and Taman Sari Water Castle

05 - 08 03 2007 On 27 May 2006, a major earthquake of 5.9 on the Richter scale occurred in Yogyakarta, the “cultural hub” of Indonesia, causing severe damage to its cultural heritage, including the Hindu temples of Prambanan World Heritage Compounds and the Islamic-era Taman Sari Water Castle.

23 03 2007 Following the ratification of the Convention by the 30th Member State on 18 December 2006, the treaty enters into force on 18 March 2007.
