Reaching out to partners – a new section of UNESCO’s website to showcase priority proposals to donors

This week a new space on the ‘Partnerships’ page of the UNESCO’s web site was launched to profile UNESCO’s proposals to potential donors and partners.

The web site available at http://en.unesco.org/partnerships/partnering is designed to give an overview of UNESCO’s top priorities for resource mobilization. It sets out the key themes around which UNESCO seeks to engage donors and partners in line with the ‘Sharpened Resource Mobilization strategy’ approved by the last General Conference. It also hosts a first batch of proposals in the form of concept notes. The pipeline of proposals available through the site will be regularly updated and enriched, requiring a sustained effort to develop high quality proposals.

Great attention is being given to ensuring ‘quality at entry’ as the best means of paving the way for quality implementation.

It reflects the key principles that underpin the idea of a ‘Complementary Additional Programme'. First, the need to have a strategic overview of UNESCO’s offer to donors and partners. Secondly, the critical importance of ensuring that UNESCO’s extrabudgetary activities are fully aligned with our Regular Programme.
