Initiatives at national level

National organizations contributed directly not only disseminating documentation, posters and other printed materials, but also giving support to activities in their respective countries, e.g. the Federation of Indian Publishers in a number of cities of India (New Delhi, Calcutta, Kottayam, Madras and Bangalore). In Sweden, several months before the World Day, some National Commissions for UNESCO met with national associations in order to encourage co-ordination between activities. In Germany, a new partnership was established with two professional organizations. COPEC (Corporation for the Promotion of the Culture of Catalunya) played an important role through networks of bookshops, in Europe and Latin America: in Benelux, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Ireland, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, United States of America, France, Spain, Argentina, Colombia, Chile and Mexico.
