 CULTURE

Europe and North America

Many research projects have concluded that arts education keeps students in school. This is especially true for youngsters at risk or with special learning problems, as their energies can be directed towards arts activities in the more secure and disciplined school environment.

As discussed in the Regional Meeting on Arts Education for Europe and North America (Helsinki, 2003), in a time of growing tension towards a larger migrant population, Arts Education can be a means to enhance collaboration between different cultural, religious and geographical groups. It has become clear that we must learn to live together and use creative thinking to resolve the conflicts which we have to face in our daily lives.
