This event , co-chaired by Mr. Mbagnick Ndiaye, Minister of Culture and Communication and Ms Ann Therese Ndong- Jatta, the Director of UNESCO Regional Office in Dakar, will bring together various technical and financial partners (TFP) contributing the conservation of the site since its listing in 2000 on the World Heritage List .

Indeed, for 15 years from the registration of the Island of Saint-Louis on the World Heritage List, many TFP contributed to the conservation of this unique and exceptional site. However, the Island of Saint-Louis is now facing multiple major problems (site management system, monitoring and coordination of reinforcement’s projects, restoration of some monuments, etc.). To this end in 2006, a Safeguard Plan for the Reinforcement (SPR) of the site was developed at the request of the Ministry of Culture of Senegal and with the support of UNESCO within framework of the France-UNESCO Convention. The SPR aims to ensure the conservation and development of the Island of Saint- Louis and thereby the sustainability of its outstanding universal value. Aiming to support the implementation of this SPR, in 2015 Action Plan of St. Louis for the period 2015-2020 was developed.

The aim of this Round Table is to present the results of this TFP collaboration, namely the 2015-2020 Action Plan for the implementation of the SPR. Guiomar Alonso Cano, Head of the Culture Unit of UNESCO Regional Office in Dakar, welcomes this initiative and adds that "this Roundtable will initiate a coordination and information sharing mechanism between the various parties stakeholders to eventually build an overall vision, so that each partner can contribute sustainably to the preservation and reinforcement of the site. It will be also the opportunity to explore new pathways for partnerships to implement UNESCO 1972 Convention on the Protection of World Cultural and Natural Heritage and the objective 11.4 of 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda for the St. Louis site. ".
