The exhibitions around World Oceans Day can be visited from Monday to Friday between 9:00 and 17:30. Only an ID card is needed at the entrance.

Room Pas Perdus, 1 - 12 June

The exhibition “Miracles Under the Waves” by Akiyoshi Ito, one of Japan’s foremost artists, is the focal point of the artistic part of  World Oceans Day by offering a direct dialogue between art, science and nature through his artistic compositions of underwater photographs. It welcomes the participants, visitors and decision-makers with the vibrant colours and mesmerizing variety of underwater life. Akiyoshi Ito’s works of photographic art are an invitation to become inspired and touched by the beauty of the ocean and engage in positive action for the preservation of the myriad marine ecosystems and the ocean’s climate change mitigation capabilities.

WONDERS to Save

Room Pas Perdus, UNESCO, 4 - 12 June

The exhibition “WONDERS to Save” by the Permanent Delegation of Palau to UNESCO, in collaboration with photographer Lionel Pozzoli, is inviting the public to plunge into the dazzlingly beautiful, but highly vulnerable marine environments of Palau with their. Palau envisions a world where the ocean is rich, healthy, and abundant with marine life. Therefore, it is creating the world’s first nation-wide Marine Sanctuary, designating its entire ocean territory as a regenerative zone for sharks, whales, tuna, and countless other precious species.

OCEANO GRAPHIC

Suffren fences, UNESCO, 5 June - 30 August

The photo exhibition “OCEANO GRAPHIC” jointly organized by Ponant, GEO magazine and IOC-UNESCO aims at catching visitors and passers-by’s attention with interesting facts and amazing views of the ocean. The photographs of Nathalie Michel invite the public to a journey starting with the Polar regions’ fauna and magnificent landscapes and moving on to explore the flora of more tropical zones next, while not forgetting the various human activities at sea.

Ocean & Climate: heat ahead!

Hall Ségur, 5 - 11 June

This multimedia exhibition by Nausicaá and Tara Expéditions will allow the visitors to get a firsthand experience in understanding the essential role of the ocean on climate regulation and the consequences of climate change on the ocean as well, and hence the life support system of our planet. Moreover, the exhibition will foster better understanding of the ocean’s positive potential to mitigate and moderate the impacts of anthropogenic climate change if humanity succeeds in using and managing marine resources and ecosystems sustainably.
