Samoa Conference III: Opportunities and Challenges for a Sustainable Cultural and Natural Environment
26-29 August 2014
Lead Organizer: National University of Samoa
The third Samoa Conference (SCIII) will reflect on the theme of the SIDS conference in relation to sustainable development in small island states, at a time when small islands are uniquely challenged by the future impacts of climate change. However the SCIII theme embraces the concept of ‘sustainable development’ in the broadest sense. It will be the occasion to explore questions of how to sustain and protect Samoa’s past, present and future achievements in relation to the natural environment, culture, language, literature history, heritage, communications, science, health and education. A case study entitled Multiple Stresses, Veiled threat: Saltwater Intrusion in Samoa will be presented by Denis Chang Seng and Leo Berthe, as a contribution to the significant event.
