The CI Sector programme's principal strategic objectives are to promote the free flow of ideas and universal acess to information and information communications technologies, as well as media pluralism and cultural diversity in the media and world information networks.

In addition to its regular programme, the CI Sector implements various national projects with extra-budgetary funding.
