Building Awareness for Green Policy Priorities

Well-informed and professional media form an essential platform for debate, discourse and knowledge-sharing; facilitate governance and accountability; create awareness about issues and shape public policy and opinion in favour of sustainable, green societies and economies. Strengthening the institutional and professional capacity of media and ensuring their safety and protection from life threatening dangers and commercial pressures is essential for investigative journalistic reports to flourish and for consistent public awareness and engagement on sustainability issues. In this regard, ICTs and in particular the broadband technology, hold enormous potential.
