World Science Forum 2007

Special session on role of Parliaments
Budapest, 9 November, 2007

A series of Parliamentary Forums have been organized by UNESCO since 2003 as follow-up to the International Conference on Science and Technology Policy: the Parliamentary Perspective, held in Helsinki, Finland, in January 2003.

These forums aim to foster better governance of science and technology systems by promoting dialogue between government decision-makers, parliamentarians, scientists and stakeholders.

One of these forums took the form of a Special Session during the World Science Forum in Budapest on 9 November 2007 on the theme of Investing in Science, Technology and Innovation: Challenges and Opportunities for Parliaments. The session was attended by representatives of S&T Parliamentary Committees from every region in the world, as well as by scientists and journalists.
