Cross-Border Learning Empowers Poor Women in South Asia:

A cross-border learning initiative between India – Bhutan helps village women find opportunities to generate income beyond farming. The initiative is sponsored by the World Bank-supported BEES Network (Business, Enterprise and Employment Support for Women in South Asia), which facilitates knowledge exchanges amongst NGOs in South Asia that focus on women’s economic empowerment.  



Reaching the MDGs in South East Europe

With the support of the Spanish Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) Achievement Fund, UNESCO has played an active role in working with other UN Agencies in South East Europe to help those countries accelerate their achievement of the MDGs by 2015. In cooperation with 5 other UN Agencies, 6 different joint programmes in 4 different countries have contributed to achieving MDGs 1, 2, 3, 7 and 8. Success stories from each of the joint programmes are presented.
