Discussing mountain sustainable development in the Caucasus

The Man and the Biosphere (MAB) programme was invited to participate in the International Roundtable Meeting ‘Man and Biosphere’, taking place in Vladikavkaz, Russian Federation from 19-20 May 2015. The meeting has welcomed scientists as well as directors and specialists of national parks of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia and the North-Caucasian Republics of the Russian Federation.

The objective of the meeting is to prepare the VIII International Conference ‘Science, Education and Advocacy Activities – Basis for Sustainable Development of Mountain Territories’, which will take place in Vladikavkaz, Russian Federation, during 1-16 October 2016.

MAB is also advising the authorities on the possibility of establishing a Category II Centre focused on mountain sustainable development and a biosphere reserve in North Ossetia-Alania, Russian Federation.
