Funding and professional resources from the private sector can greatly enhance the scope and impact of UNESCO’s work. Such partnerships enable actors in the private sector to contribute to the implementation of programmes / activities in Africa. With the mission of contributing to peace and human development in an era of globalisation, UNESCO considers cooperation with the private sector as a necessity, not just an option.

The Africa Department intends to continue the mobilisation of bilateral and multilateral African and non-African partners, public enterprises, development banks, regional banks, private foundations and the civil society as well as the development of North-South and South-South cooperation in order to combine efforts in view to strengthening human capital in Africa.
