Irina Bokova: “Pray the Devil Back to Hell” tells the story of the power of peace
On 28 March, UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova launched the film projection at UNESCO headquarters of “Pray the Devil Back to Hell,” with H. E. Mr. David Killion, Ambassador, Permanent Delegate of the United States of America to UNESCO and Ms. E. Abigail Disney, Executive Producer of the film series “Women, War & Peace,” and Producer of “Pray the Devil Back to Hell”.
“This film addresses a subject that goes to the heart of UNESCO’s mission to build peace in the minds of men and women (…) It goes to the heart of the global priorities that guide our action – Gender Equality and Africa,” said the Director-General.
“Pray the Devil Back to Hell” chronicles the remarkable story of the courageous Liberian women who came together to end a bloody civil war and bring peace to their shattered country.
This event, held in the framework of the 2012 International Women’s Day celebrations, was organized in collaboration with the Permanent Delegation of the United States of America to UNESCO and the Permanent Delegation of the Republic of Liberia to UNESCO.
