Join Irina Bokova and Karen Armstrong to discuss “Why the world needs compassion today”

On 1 July, the Director-General of UNESCO, Irina Bokova, and internationally renowned scholar on comparative religions Karen Armstrong FRSL will discuss compassion and conflict in the world today – join them to share your views and ask questions!

The event, chaired by Gethin Abraham-Williams, commentator, academic and former General Secretary of Churches Together in Wales, will take place at the Royal Opera House in London, under the theme “Why the world needs compassion today”.

How can religion become solely an instrument for peace? What levers can we craft and use to strengthen the foundations for peace and prevent conflicts? Why does the world need more compassion? How can we build stronger solidarity to move toward global peace?

Get involved in the debate:

The Maimonides Interfaith Foundation, an international charity co-founded by UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, Nasser David Khalili that connects people through art, culture and education, along with the Welsh National Opera and UNESCO have teamed up for a debate on these and other questions about conflict in the world today and why the world needs compassion now.
