Strengthening teachers' capacities through UNESCO ICT Competency Framework for Teachers in Qatar

UNESCO Doha, in collaboration with Qatar National Commission to UNESCO, organized an inception workshop about UNESCO ICT Competency Framework for Teachers (ICT CFT) to raise awareness about UNESCO's efforts in the field of ICT in Education and strengthen teachers' competencies to use ICTs in the classrooms through standards and frameworks on 22 November 2015 at Intercontinental Hotel in Doha, Qatar.

The workshop was led by Zeynep Varoglu, Communication and Information Programme Specialist at UNESCO Headquarters who helped develop UNESCO ICT CFT.

During her opening remarks, the Secretary General of Qatar National Commission to UNESCO, Dr. Hamda Al-Sulaiti, reinforced the importance of ICT in Education and reminded participants that this workshop was part of a series of consultations undertaken in the past year with UNESCO Doha Office and Supreme Education Council officials to support the development of ICT in Education in the country, including through the promotion of Open Educational Resources.

The meeting was attended by representatives from Qatar Supreme Education Council various departments including the Education Institute, the Policy and Research Analysis Office, the IT Department, the Education and Training Development Center, the Office for Talent Students and Students with Special Needs as well as ICT teachers from 3 different in Qatar.
