UNESCO Doha Office met with partners in the field of cultural preservation and heritage protection in Qatar to discuss UNESCO's ongoing #Unite4Heritage campaign and discuss its potential launch in Qatar. The meeting took place on November 1 2015 at UNESCO Doha Office in Qatar.

The meeting was attended by the key stakeholders active in heritage conservation in the country including the Ministry of Culture, Qatar Museums, UCL Qatar, Qatar Tourism Authority, Northwestern University, Doha Architectural Forum and Qatar National Commission to UNESCO.

Partners discussed the objective of the campaign and shared input on possible ways for each organization to contribute to the campaign, which would for three consecutive months, starting in December 2015.

The campaign would include series of tours to cultural sites, workshops on heritage in Qatar and awareness events to raise awareness about cultural preservation in the country among the public and most particularly among youth.

The #Unite4Heritage campaign was launched by UNESCO Director General in March 2015 to raise awareness about the importance of heritage protection worldwide and especially among youth on social media. The project includes a global “coalition of culture” that works together to block the illicit sales of cultural artefacts in hopes to protect cultural sites. The coalition is made up of armed forces, Interpol, the World Customs Organization, museums, leading auction houses and national governments.
