Euro-Mediterranean Cooperation through ERANET joint activities and beyond

Save the date. The inter-institutional and stakeholder workshop is organised by ERANETMED in Athens on 27-28 February 2014 and hosted by the General Secretariat for Research & Technology. Representatives of the European Commission (DG Research & Innovation), ERANETMED research funding agencies and stakeholders, including coordinators of EU-funded projects, will participate in the event. UNESCO will be represented by the Science Unit of the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Science and Culture in Europe, Venice (Italy).

The ERANETMED inter-institutional and stakeholder workshop: Paving the way for a Euro-Med Joint Call for proposals will be held in Athens, Greece, on 27 and 28 February 2014. This event, organized under the auspices of the Greek Presidency of the Council of the European Union, will be hosted by the General Secretariat for Research & Technology (GSRT) of the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs, Sport and Culture of Greece.

Over 30 institutions participating in the event - including universities, research centres, associations and other governmental institutions from the European Union (EU) and Mediterranean countries - will discuss themes and actions to be addressed by the ERANETMED first joint call for proposals and orient its scope in relation to the main societal challenges in the region.

The outcomes of the workshop will contribute to the Euro-Mediterranean policy dialogue and to a more stable and sustainable Euro-Mediterranean cooperation on research and innovation”.

The project ERANETMED (Euro-Mediterranean Cooperation Through ERANET Joint Activities And Beyond) aims at reinforcing the cooperation in science, research and innovation between the participating partners from the European Union, the associated countries and the Mediterranean Partner countries for the Mediterranean region. The project is funded by the European Commission for 4 years (October 2013 – September 2017).The Kick Off meeting of the project took place on 4-5 November 2013 in Istanbul, Turkey.
