Lead: The Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve provided the setting for a meeting of the ASPnet flagship project “Blue Danube River Project” from 12-16 June 2010, organized by the Romanian National Commission for UNESCO with the financial support of Veolia Environment.

Various activities were dedicated to the International Year of Biodiversity: a poster exhibition “A Chance for the Blue Danube” and the publication of a booklet (“United by Biodiversity”) on the fauna and folklore of the Danube River. ASPnet teachers and students aged 14-18 years from schools in Bulgaria, Germany, Hungary, Serbia, and Romania also had the occasion to present their school-based projects and see part of the rich flora and wildlife specific to the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve.
