International Jazz Day 2015: a unique concert in Paris with Herbie Hancock and Marcus Miller

The 4th edition of the International Jazz Day was celebrated at UNESCO Headquarters on 30 April 2015 with support of Herbie Hancock, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador and the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz. Marcus Miller, UNESCO Artist for Peace also performed at this event, which was organized in the framework of the 70th years anniversary of UNESCO.

“In times of change and uncertainty, we need the spirit of jazz more than ever before, to bring people – especially young women and men – together, to nurture freedom and dialogue, to create new bridges of respect and understanding, for greater tolerance and cooperation” said the Director-General, Ms Irina Bokova in her speech delivered on the occasion of this event.

A concert entitled " International Jazz Day All Star Global Concert " was held at UNESCO Headquarters to celebrate this year’s Jazz Day, bringing together jazz stars such as Dee Dee Bridgewater (USA), Herbie Hancock ( USA), Ibrahim Maalouf (Lebanon), Hugh Masekela (South Africa), Marcus Miller (USA), Guillaume Perret (France), Dianne Reeves (USA), Claudio Roditi (Brazil), Wayne Shorter ( United States) or Dhafer Youssef (Tunisia) as well as many other very talented artists.
