UNESCO Office in Dakar and Regional Bureau for Education in Africa (BREDA)
UNESCO Office in Dakar and Regional Bureau for Education in Africa better kwown under its acronym BREDA is the largest UNESCO Office in Africa.
Its mandate is twofold. As Regional Office for Education, BREDA covers all Sub-saharan Africa, on the whole 46 countries. In its capacity as Cluster Office, it is entrusted with the task of representing the Organization in four West African countries (Cape Verde, The Gambia, Guinea Bissau and Senegal). For these countries, it covers all UNESCO’s fields of competence, namely Education, Natural Sciences, Social and Human Sciences, Culture and Communication and Information.
Breda has as partners: the Member States, the United Nations Agencies, IGO’s, NGOs and all people and institutions engaged in the activities related to the Organization’s fields of competence.
