About the Office

Created in 1970 initially to deal with educational planning in sub-saharan Africa, the Office has progressively extend its activities to other sub-sectors of Education and other fields of the UNESCO’s competence which are science, human and social sciences, culture, communication and information.

BREDA is now a multisectoral Office. However, education remains its priority field of intervention.
