Distance Education through ICTs

@UNESCO/S.Habibullah

Recognizing the crucial role of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in cross sectoral national development, UNESCO Kabul has been working closely with the Ministry of Education to support the reconstruction of Afghanistan's Educational Radio and Television (ERTV) .

ERTV was built in the 1970s as a part of Radio Television of Afghanistan but has been fully renovated as part of the Ministry of Education.

Distance education is a core part of the Ministry's Five Year Strategy, and UNESCO has been central to the development of policy frameworks and operational plans to use radio, television and other multi-media formats to bring education to remote and disadvantaged communities in Afghanistan.
