The culture activities of UNESCO Kabul Office are developed in line with UNESCO’s core functions such as advocacy, capacity-building and standard-setting.

They are designed to offer a response to the priorities identified by the Afghan government, and focus on heritage protection and rehabilitation, the support to the museum sector, the promotion of intangible heritage safeguarding and the provision of policy advice, while providing training opportunities to increase the technical capacity of the Afghan experts.

To this end, we continue to assist the Afghan authorities in delivering projects to safeguard Afghanistan’s tangible and intangible cultural heritage and to promote public awareness among the Afghan people of the immense value of this common heritage to promote peace, social cohesion and sustainable development, and of preserving it for the future generations.
