Brief project description
Objectives and expected results
The objective was to manifest the power of art and creativity as a bridge across cultures, highlighting how multimedia can support marginalized cultures, engage with other youngsters worldwide, embrace coexistence in equity and promote diversity in an Information and Knowledge Society. Finally, the 40 young artists from Peru, Guatemala, Spain and Indonesia, opened a virtual ‘window to diversity’ through an online network and developed both a collection of trans-media art pieces and a deeper sense of interculturality and wider understanding of the importance of culture and communication at the global scale.

About the beneficiaries
Lula Capriel is a creative, passionate young woman from Totonicapan, north Guatemala. She studied industrial design and loves to create. When she heard from Window to Diversity, she did not expect more than just another workshop to meet other young creators and talk about trends and technical resources. "It took me no more than 10 minutes to realize that this would be different, really different. Something I was looking for a long time". She eagerly followed the introduction session, understanding the different approach of collaborative art.
When she read the description of the workshop "draw your life, draw your dreams", she literally jumped out of her seat. "It was an amazing idea, full of potential, that can really introduce kids to an easy-to-use, accessible animation techniques ...and at same time allows them to express through drawing what often can´t be said any other way". Proof of the inherent power to express was when a young kid, while drawing what he can see from his window, filled up the whole canvas with black marker, saying that his window faces a huge dark wall.
Inspired by this and other stories, Lula not only lead the whole team through the design and construction of the "magic box", but also created a 3D model of it and a DIY tutorial. Other people inspired by her passionate creativity, are promoting this design among educational centres and primary schools in Santa Fe Province (Argentina).
