International Meeting on Social Inclusion, Youth and Gender Equality

The Government of Argentina and its Minister of Social Development, Ms Alicia Kirchner, also President of the UNESCO-MOST* Intergovernmental Council (IGC), will convene and host an International meeting on Social Inclusion, Youth and Gender Equality in Buenos Aires, from 16 to 18 September 2013.

The meeting will focus on the participation of youth and the importance of gender equality within social inclusion public policies, and to knowledge production, knowledge dissemination, and exchange of this type of policies.

The meeting will gather those responsible for public policies on social inclusion, youth and gender, as well as specialists, researchers and other invited participants.

It will be organized back to back with the IX Forum of Ministers of Social Development for Latin America. The Ministers and researchers attending the Ministerial Forum
will therefore also have the possibility of participating in sessions of the international meeting.

Among the institutions or organizations which will participate are the Centro Latinoamericano sobre Juventud (CELAJU), the Latin American Social Sciences Council (CLACSO) and the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO).

This event will contribute to the UNESCO-MOST priority on “Social inclusion” adopted at the 10th session of the MOST Intergovernmental Council (Paris, March 2011), and endorsed by the 186th session of the UNESCO Executive Board (Paris, May 2011), and subsequently by UNESCO’s General Conference at its 36th session (Paris, November 2011). The relevance of this thematic theme was reconfirmed at the 11th session of the IGC of MOST (Paris, 27-28 March 2013).

The recommendation that Argentina organize this international meeting was adopted at the 11th session of the MOST IGC (Paris, March 2013).
