Cultural Policy

Elaboration of the standard-setting instruments is a key UNESCO’s function in the field of culture. UNESCO Moscow Office assists cluster countries in the application of legal instruments for the protection of their heritage. The Office endeavors to involve parliamentarians, governmental organizations and NGOs  to participate in the UNESCO activities.

UNESCO Moscow Office has initiated the international conferences “UNESCO Conventions in the Field of the Protection of Cultural Heritage and National Legislation of the CIS Countries” (Minsk, 2007) and «Innovative Policies for Heritage Safeguarding and Cultural Tourism Development» (Moscow, 2005) with participation of parliamentarians and representatives of the executive bodies of the CIS countries, which developed recommendations on how to harmonise national legislations in the field of culture with the UNESCO legal instruments.
