Malaysia 2014
The Approval Committee of the Fund for the Elimination of Doping in Sport convenes twice annually to determine new applications. The next meeting will take place at UNESCO Headquarters on 27 October 2015.
Committee members will review new anti-doping initiatives from around the world. The agenda will also include items on the Fund’s communication means and visibility. As the session will be held just before the fifth Conference of Parties to the Anti-Doping Convention, the discussions will also focus on the Fund’s results during the 2014 and 2015 biennium.
The Committee currently comprises Finland, Japan, Kuwait, Mexico, the Russian Federation and Zambia (six States Parties representatives) and an observer from the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
Set forth in Article 17 of the International Convention against Doping in Sport, the primary purpose of the Fund is to help States Parties to meet their obligations under the Convention, namely to develop and implement efficient anti-doping programmes. The Approval Committee assesses national and/or regional anti-doping applications according to priorities identified by the Conference of Parties.
